Self-love and selfishness, they might seem similar, but in fact are very different. Self-love means taking care of yourself, respecting your feelings, and making sure you are happy and healthy. It helps you grow as a person and have better relationships with others. When you love yourself, you set boundaries, practice self-care, and treat yourself with kindness. Self-love is important because it helps you build confidence and feel good about who you are.

Selfishness, on the other hand, is when a person or people only think about themselves without caring about how their actions affect others. A selfish person might always put themselves first, ignore other people's needs, and expect everything to go their way. They may take from others without giving back, and they less show empathy or understanding. Instead of balancing their needs with others, they focus only on their own desires, or even sometimes hurting people in the process.

The biggest difference between self-love and selfishness is that self-love is positive and healthy, while selfishness can harm relationships. When you love yourself, you also understand the importance of kindness and respect for others. Self-love allows you to take care of yourself without hurting anyone else. It helps you become a better friend, family member, and person because you have a strong sense of self-worth. However, selfishness makes people feel unimportant or used because a selfish people only care about what benefits them.

In short, self-love means valuing yourself while also valuing others, while selfishness means thinking only about yourself. A person who practices self-love knows when to say no and set limits, but they do it with respect and care, meanwhile a selfish person, ignores the needs of others and solely focuses on themselves. Learning to love yourself without being selfish is the key to a happy and balanced life, and being a better person.
